R4DS Set Up

To start with look for the folder (on this disc);   "V1.4 Red Box System Files",  open it and there should be 3 files.  locate the USB card reader (in the R4 box) and slide the little tiny memory card into the end of it, make sure it is the correct way up, then insert the reader into a USB slot on your PC, it should appear on your PC as a  "Removable Disc".

Return to the 3 system files on the disc, you now need to copy and paste them into the removable disc file (the memory card you have just inserted into your PC) when this is complete take the memory card out of the reader and insert it into the R4 card (again make sure it is the right way up) insert the R4 card into your ds (as you would any normal ds game) and then switch the DS on.

The ds should automaticaly go to the R4 system menu, where you should then see 3 icons appear on the bottom screen of your ds, 1, smiley face (game files)  2, musical note (mp3 files) 3, square face (R4 set up). When the 3 icons appear just turn the ds off, the memory card is now ready to accept game "roms".

Remove the memory stick from the R4 and re-insert it into your usb reader in the PC. Open the memory card (removable drive on your pc) again and you should see 5 system files (it creates its own menu file when you boot up the DS) your memory card is now ready to accept game "Roms"

You now need to copy all of "DS Rom Zip"+"Game Disc" file into a "New Folder" so you can work with the files that are in it. Open the folder and if your pc does not read all the games that are in it, they should all appear as a set of books tied together (some are "win zip" and some are "win rar") you will need to download and install "Winrar" from our web site  www.dscity.co.uk

Then for each game you would like to play you will need to unzip/unpack the actual game "Rom" (when unpacked the game will appear as an "NDS  file") copy and paste your selected game rom (NDS file) straight onto the memory card (do not put into any folders just onto the card alongside the system files).

You will fit approx  40-45 games on the memory card at any one time, so for a different selection of games just open the memory card (on your pc using the usb reader) delete the game you no longer require (Do Not Delete Any System Files) then copy and paste in your new selection of games.

You do the same with any music mp3 files, just copy and paste. When you want to play a game you tap the smiley face icon and the list of games you have put on the card appears on the top screen, scroll down the list, click on the game, and press A, then off you go, its as easy as that!!

Any more queries just email or place a question on the forum, i will help as much as i can, good luck! regards Nick
